We've got a 10-14 in progress!

Last night, Darrell and I were dead asleep, when we were both awakened by glass breaking.

In our house.

We both woke up, very quickly. What were we to do? A couple of months ago, there was a home invasion a few blocks away and the startled home owner was shot and hurt. If not killed. Dead.

Darrell grabbed his weapon of choice. A golf club that he keeps by the bed for these types of emergencies. He told me to stay in the bed room, holding the phone, and to dial 9-1-1 on his command. As I sat there, hearing my heartbeat as if it were broadcast over a loud speaker, I was fearful that I wouldn't dial 9-1-1-"Talk" correctly. Would I remember which button was "Talk?" Would I remember how to dial 9-1-1?

A few moments later, but what seemed an eternity, Darrell came back into the room. He told me about the vandalism that had occurred in our kitchen, while we were sleeping.

I took a photo of the carnage.

Keep going......

Almost there.............

Not quite............

Okay, just a little more...........

Yes. It's true! The Christmas plates my mom gave me had fallen to the floor. The 3Com hook we bought couldn't hold them any more. It gave way and the plates went crashing to the floor. Not one of the three was salvageable. So, alas, we have to throw them away.

It took awhile for my heart to stop beating 5735 beats per minute.

Darrell reminded me that none of this would have happened if I had put away the Christmas decorations last weekend.

I guess we all know what I'm doing tomorrow.

Darrell is so brave. Can you imagine walking out with your golf club, going to protect your princess in distress? What a man! We are relieved it was just plates.

I am sorry for your loss...but I was laughing so hard!

How horrible! And scary! And, if we're all honest, hilarious. Glad everyone is safe (except for, you know, Santa, Snowman and Christmas Tree).

Look, there's even blood on the floor from the wounds received by Santa. He bled to death!
Yes, it is all your fault--if you had put the decorations away, on time, my darling Christmas decoration gift would still be usable. Plastic for YOU, from now on!
